Bicycle Brake Cable Benders.
How practical would it be to use bicycle brake cables to go from a foot pedal to a bender? I have been toying with the idea of building a compact steel guitar that could reasonably be taken as an airplane carryon. It would be nice to add some benders and it seems that using bicycle brake cable might be a way to do it.

It's been done with guitars, see this thread about Phil Baugh: viewtopic.php?t=147943
Long-time guitar player, now being cruelly mocked by a lap steel.

This steel uses bike cables. viewtopic.php?t=396750
I also remember seeing some pictures of a couple cheap Rondo lap steels that had been fitted with bike cable activated pedals. Nice cause they come with legs. Can't seem to remember where I saw those.

Thanks for the responses. I have an idea to make a double action keyless tuner where one direction tunes the string and the side tunes the stop

I made mine with bike cables,

Id definitely change some things on a second attempt. mainly make the changer fingers longer so the cable tension required is less, it’s pretty spongy I think from the cables being a lot more compliant than a proper linkage type mechanism. It’s workable but you might want to whip up some crude mock ups to make sure the pedal action and stuff feels right.
