Supro wiring question.
Hello all! Brand new to the forum. I have a wiring question, and I'm hoping someone knows the answer. I have a 1961 supro, that I am trying to get working for a friend. It was not making any sound, so I replaced all of the electronics with an orange drop les paul jr kit. I get a 5k ohm reading when I pin the pickup lead and the bottom of the bridge, so I assume the pickup is working and grounded. I wired the harness exactly how the guitar was originally wired. It matches every photo I can find online, which is a small number. Now, when I plug the guitar in, I get static. The volume knob works, as I can change the volume of said static. Lol! Does anyone know what the issue is? Is it the grounding of the pots? Is it maybe a capacitor value thing? I have reached the limits of my expertise, and I'm really hoping someone knows the problem. Thanks for helping!

Not familiar with the guitar but ..
I would go over the schematic and use a volt-ohmmeter to check each and every connection to make sure it's wired right.
Another thing, you might eliminate all the other wiring and components and just plug the pickup only into the amp and see if that works -- then add back stuff till it doesn't work
Make sure amp and cable work, of course

Re: Supro wiring question.
Replaced all the electronics? That sounds pretty radical. Electrolytic caps and the odd failed resistor are the only things that should need replacement, if you have replaced "everything" there is very high probability that a mistake was made either in component value or soldering. At that point troubleshooting via online forum is the hard way to go, especially without photos and voltage measurements to go by. I am assuming before you took it apart you obtained a schematic drawing, yes?
As for the guitar the pickup hot lead should connect to the 1/4" tip contact, and the shield goes to the ground/sleeve contact. If it has a tone control the pot and cap should connect between the two in series. It's easy to check the guitar by plugging it into a know good amp. If the guitar is good the real fun begins...
